High River Sauces Thunder Juice Hot Sauce

September 03, 2019

High River Sauces make some of the best products on the market today. All of their sauces are so unique, with each also being fruit-based. I love the way in which the sauce makers emphasize fresh, natural ingredients! Come by one of our store locations and ask about them! We also have plenty of open bottles for our customers to try! Check out my reviews of Cheeba Gold, Rogue, and Foo Foo Mama Choo if you want to learn more about the company and the other sauces they offer!

Right off the bat I want to tell you all that this one is REALLY HOT. The guy’s nuclear exploding head on the label is a rather accurate description of how I first reacted when I tried it. I was curious about how spicy it really was, so I tried a full tablespoon of it. I was in a delirium of hiccupping and sweating. I definitely would not recommend anyone ingest the amount of sauce I did that time, unless you really want to FEEL THE HEAT! To me, even for those with higher spice tolerance levels, this sauce is best enjoyed in modest quantities, and of course with food. If you’re curious about the sweet-earthy taste of the Chocolate Bhutlah and how fruit could compliment its flavour profile, do give Thunder Juice a try!

This one has a lot of ingredients. I will say that, in this case, I appreciate the level of craftsmanship that has gone into creating it. The many ingredients ensure that a pleasing, yet complex flavour is present, while also maintaining a pepper-forward taste. The flavour profile is sweet, fruity, tangy, and lightly earthy.

Apple cider vinegar as well as lemon juice act as preservatives with a light sourness to complement the fruits and peppers. Chocolate Bhutlah, Carolina Reaper, and Fatalii pepper mash, as well as Scorpion pepper powder make for an intense heat and deep, fruity, earthy, and citrusy flavour. The Chocolate Bhutlah is actually a cross between a Bhut Jolokia (Ghost pepper) and a Chocolate Douglah. It’s not a very common pepper to find in hot sauces, so it makes this product that much more special! Peaches, blueberries, and raspberries add a sweet fruity quality, with brown sugar boosting up the sweetness just a tad. Ginger root and garlic add a light zing to complete the peppers while the Habanero-infused tequila, which is mildly noticeable, adds a light oaky and sweet quality.

In terms of heat, I would give this one a very solid 8 out of 10. I feel that in some cases, depending on how you try it, it can feel more like a 9 out of 10. At the same time when comparing it to other level 9’s that I’ve enjoyed, it’s a slight notch under in terms of heat. Regardless, this sauce is not for amateurs. It will seriously kick the butt of any tough guy boasting about how they can handle anything. I recommend Thunder Juice to those who have at least tried, and enjoyed, hot sauces which are at the ghost pepper level or higher. If you’re just getting into hot sauce and really want to go for a very hot one to enjoy one drop at a time, then this would still be a great choice!

Add some thunder to your spice mixes or marinades for chicken, pork chops, tenderloin, tofu, steak, shrimp, lamb, and salmon. I’ve had it in my sandwiches, salads, stews, and ramen! Try a couple of drops in your stews, chilis, rice and beans, salsas, and any of your favourite Caribbean, African, or Mexican dishes! It’s the kind of sauce you wouldn’t want to add more than a teaspoon or so of in a big bowl of whatever you’re preparing!

As always, Keep it spicy!

Fat Cat Surprisingly Mild Guajillo Ghost Hot Sauce

November 06, 2019

It’s a robust sauce with a smoky, tangy, and savoury flavour profile. What sticks out the most to me are the smoky Guajillo peppers and the cumin. It really is a marriage made in heaven! Water gives the sauce a more liquid consistency and balances out the acidity and salinity while...

Hellfire Blueberry Hell Hot Sauce

October 23, 2019

This is one of my all-time favourites. It’s most probably my favourite super-hot fruit-based hot sauce I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy. When we usually hear “fruit-based hot sauce” we assume that makes its possible uses rather limited. That is not the case with Blueberry Hell, as I will discuss in more depth further down.

Exactly as advertised

This'll fix any bland stew, soup, chili, curry, masala, and so on and so forth.

Okay. I don't even have words for this. It is so good. It's not terribly hot so if you want blistery mouth burn, this is not for you. If you want sweet, tangy, hot, deep fruity amazing flavour, this definitely might be your thing. It's fantastic on fresh vegetables, in salads on fish on chicken... it's even great on fruit or ice cream. My last experiment was with roasted cauliflower parmesan soup. Fabulous.

Incredibly tasty

Smokey delicious hot sauce will not raise any blisters. If you want smoldering sauce this is not it. This is tasty somewhat hot and amazingly flavorful. It's fabulous on chicken fish beans eggs in all kinds of soups and it is my go-to Tabasco product.

Hot and tasty

Very nice
