High River Sauces Foo Foo Mama Choo Hot Sauce

January 10, 2018

High River Sauces Foo Foo Mama Choo Hot Sauce High River Sauces Foo Foo Mama Choo is a delicious yet deceptively spicy hot sauce. When you try it, you get an immediate burst of natural sweetness and fresh flavours. You then slowly realize your mouth is catching fire! I enjoy making my friends try this sauce because every time they initially tell me that it’s really tasty and has a decent kick to it…but then their smiles eventually fade and they run for the nearest glass of milk or soda. This is because of the Carolina Reaper’s delayed burn effect. This pepper makes for a high level of heat and with its floral-fruity flavour, works perfectly with the other ingredients. There is one thing no one can deny, this sauce is very hot, yet very fragrant, refreshing, and one of a kind.

Foo Foo Mama Choo has a more complex flavour profile than you may think. It’s sweet, bold and aromatic along with a slight tang and a hell of a kick! The roasted red peppers and fire-roasted vine-ripened tomatoes create a sweet, and deep natural boldness to the sauce which is the most prominent flavour point. The sweetness from the sauce comes not only from the aforementioned ingredients but also from the brown sugar. This all adds to the deceptively delicious nature of the sauce. The onions and garlic add a hint of sharpness and robustness. They complete the sauce in perfectly complementing the ginger root, which adds a freshness and pungency. The red wine vinegar used in this sauce is a great choice given all the ingredients present. This is because it's a fruity vinegar with a noticeable sweetness that pairs well with the acidity. I love when companies decide to use different kinds of vinegar or sources of acidity as a natural preservative, especially when they work well with the other ingredients. Another interesting, yet fitting choice for this sauce is the use of white pepper, with its distinctly earthy and floral flavour, which adds to the unique flavour profile of this product.

In terms of heat I give this one an 8 out of 10. Many would find this sauce quite spicy but don’t let that turn you off from giving it a try! This is an exceptional sauce. Even if you cannot handle beyond a 6 out of 10 heat rating, I still highly recommend it for its unique taste if enjoyed in smaller amounts. This sauce has multiple uses. Enjoy it as a table sauce or add it to a marinade for any kind of meat or fish. Add it on eggs, pizza, stir fries, wings, pasta, tacos, salads, burritos, grilled veggies and more. I have also used it as a dip for egg rolls, spring rolls, dumplings, and French fries!

I highly recommend you check out the whole lineup of products by High River Sauces. They are all top-quality! Come by one of our store locations and give High River Sauces Foo Foo Mama Choo a try!

As always, keep it spicy!

Alexis

Fat Cat Surprisingly Mild Guajillo Ghost Hot Sauce

November 06, 2019

It’s a robust sauce with a smoky, tangy, and savoury flavour profile. What sticks out the most to me are the smoky Guajillo peppers and the cumin. It really is a marriage made in heaven! Water gives the sauce a more liquid consistency and balances out the acidity and salinity while...

Hellfire Blueberry Hell Hot Sauce

October 23, 2019

This is one of my all-time favourites. It’s most probably my favourite super-hot fruit-based hot sauce I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy. When we usually hear “fruit-based hot sauce” we assume that makes its possible uses rather limited. That is not the case with Blueberry Hell, as I will discuss in more depth further down.

Brutal, very hot, taste was really bad

This was just stinking hot, tastes hotter than a lot of other sauces but the heat over powers you and it is not a great taste, was good for a hot wing challenge but I would use as recommended on the bottle to just add heat to something like soup or chili if you want some extreme heat, even then there are much better choices!

Not as crazy as I was expecting but many of my friends can barely handle it :)

It really burns, the heat kicks in and keeps going up when you breathe :)

I cried... I had hiccups..... but I was expecting it to be kicking my ass more.

No ring of fire :)
