Hellfire Blueberry Hell Hot Sauce

October 23, 2019

Blueberry Hell by Hellfire Hot Sauce is a classic staple in my fridge collection. It’s a multi-award-winning hot sauce which really does not surprise me one bit. Hellfire are MASTERS at balancing heat and flavour. Even when there’s a ton of heat in their sauces, they always match it equally with fresh, savory taste! This is one of my all-time favourites. It’s most probably my favourite super-hot fruit-based hot sauce I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy. When we usually hear “fruit-based hot sauce” we assume that makes its possible uses rather limited. That is not the case with Blueberry Hell, as I will discuss in more depth further down. It’s a very versatile sauce!  Be sure to check out my other reviews of Hellfire products! I’ve reviewed Fiery Fool, Evil Bastard, Devil’s Gold, Gourmet Red, Hellboy Anung Un Rama, and The Chilimaster’s Reserve! We have so many of their products and they’re all worth looking into if you like it HOT!

This sauce has a combination of numerous fruits and peppers, all of which work so well together. These, along with other fresh ingredients, make for a flavour profile which is fruity, bold, tangy, and sweet. Blueberries, blackberries, grape juice, raspberries, pears, pineapple, beets, and papaya give the sauce a tropical, tart, and sweet taste which I find down-right delicious. Red Jalapeno peppers, Trinidad Scorpion peppers, Jolokia (Ghost) peppers, Red Serrano peppers, Red 7-Pot peppers, and Orange Habanero peppers bring all the heat! They also bring out a fresh, fruity, citrusy, and crisp flavour which is well-complemented by the other ingredients. Sugar and honey add some extra sweetness, while the lemon juice adds some more tang. Red wine vinegar is a good choice of vinegar, given that it is a bit sweeter than most other vinegar options, thus complementing the wide variety of fresh fruits in the mix. Garlic adds some noticeable zingy flavour, while the sea salt ensures that the product is well-seasoned.

In terms of heat I would give this one an 8 out of 10. It’s got a pretty solid heat, even with all the sweetness added from the fruits and other sweet ingredients. I’m even tempted to give this one a 7 out of 10 rating, given that I’ve reached the point where I can put a solid tablespoon on my food and it doesn’t hurt me all too bad. I think that part of this may be because the huge variety of fruits and peppers added make it so good that I almost forget how much my mouth is scorching! I would only recommend this one to brave souls however. If you’re just getting into hot sauce, I would hesitate to recommend it to you if you only want to stick to what you’re comfortable with. At the same time though, if you really like fruit-based hot sauces and are looking for a challenge, look no further than Blueberry Hell! As I tell my friends and curious customers, it’s all about how much of the sauce you put on your dish or in your marinade. If you play it safe, even those of you just getting into hot sauce should be able to appreciate the flavour without having to call the fire department!

Add some Blueberry Hell to your beef, pork, lamb, or other red meat marinades. It also pairs well with gamier meats like venison. I’ve also enjoyed it with cheese platters, meatloaf, pâté, chicken stir-fry, tuna steak, and even with my Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey dinner! Hot sauce pretty much ALWAYS goes well with mashed potatoes! Believe it or not, its fruity taste even works well as a topping to some of your favourite desserts or breakfast/brunch dishes! I’ve enjoyed it on french toast, pancakes, ice cream, whether vegan or regular, frozen yogurt, and even with tarts or pies!

Be brave and come by one of our store locations and have a taste of Hellfire Blueberry Hell Hot Sauce!

As always, Keep it spicy!

Alexis

Fat Cat Surprisingly Mild Guajillo Ghost Hot Sauce

November 06, 2019

It’s a robust sauce with a smoky, tangy, and savoury flavour profile. What sticks out the most to me are the smoky Guajillo peppers and the cumin. It really is a marriage made in heaven! Water gives the sauce a more liquid consistency and balances out the acidity and salinity while...

Bigfat’s 208 Bajan Style Hot Sauce

October 19, 2019

Warm and sultry like a Caribbean sunset, it pairs well with pork, chicken, and all types of seafood.” I find all of that to be very true. I’ve enjoyed this product in all of those ways and more. I find it really is a rarity to find these kinds of flavours in a hot sauce.

Brutal, very hot, taste was really bad

This was just stinking hot, tastes hotter than a lot of other sauces but the heat over powers you and it is not a great taste, was good for a hot wing challenge but I would use as recommended on the bottle to just add heat to something like soup or chili if you want some extreme heat, even then there are much better choices!

Not as crazy as I was expecting but many of my friends can barely handle it :)

It really burns, the heat kicks in and keeps going up when you breathe :)

I cried... I had hiccups..... but I was expecting it to be kicking my ass more.

No ring of fire :)
