Bravado Spice Crimson Hot Sauce

April 27, 2018

Bravado Spice Crimson Hot Sauce is a Louisiana-style sauce that has a uniquely bold and versatile flavour. It’s a sauce that tastes so good on just about everything! It’s always one of my go-to’s in my fridge and I have always preferred it over many other sauces of this type because of how strong the flavour profile is. Just a few drops of this sauce in a dip, sandwich, or numerous other dishes brings out such a great taste every time!

Bravado Spice is a multi-award-winning hot sauce company from Houston, Texas. The founding members have a passion for cooking, and created each of their sauces with culinary intentions in mind. They use simple, fresh, quality ingredients which always complement each other in ways that you may not have expected. One poignant example would be their Ghost Pepper Blueberry Hot Sauce, among others. They make sauces that are made to be enjoyed in a multitude of ways due to the unique flavour combinations, quality of ingredients, and amazing flavour.

The ingredients in this sauce work perfectly together. The white wine vinegar offers a rich, fruity, and tangy alternative to regular white vinegar which tends to lack this depth of flavour. The two chiles that bring the heat in this sauce the Red Jalapenos, which provide a fruity flavour, while the Arbols have a smokiness to them. The garlic zing is quite present in this sauce, adding to the depth and boldness. The sea salt and sugar, though very subtle, help to balance out the sweetness and saltiness of the sauce, thus complementing the overall flavour. In terms of heat I give this sauce a 2 out of 10. It’s quite a mild heat for most seasoned chile heads whereas those with a lower tolerance level for spiciness will most-likely find it to be at a medium heat level at around a 4 or 5 out of 10.

Enjoy this sauce in burritos, soups like ramen and pho, on tacos, pizza, fried chicken, salsas, chilis, and more! This sauce is amazing in Bloody Marys and Micheladas too! If you don’t drink, you can of course try them without the alcohol too to get all those great flavours brought out by the hot sauce! Crimson also makes for an amazing dip when mixed with mayonnaise, cream cheese, and a queso dip to name a few.

I highly recommend this sauce to anyone who likes traditional Louisiana-style sauces and wants to kick the flavour up several notches! Come by one of our store locations and give Bravado Spice Crimson Hot Sauce a try!

 As always, Keep it spicy!

 Alexis

Secret Aardvark Drunken Jerk Marinade

May 13, 2019

The Drunken Jerk Marinade is savoury, intense, spiced, and salty. This intensity is mainly due to the fact that its main use is that of a marinade, and thus has a high concentration of flavour. Therefore, it’s not necessarily the kind of sauce you would douse on any dish.
