Dr. Assburn’s Fire Roasted Habanero

Dr. Assburn’s Fire Roasted Habanero

Dr. Assburn’s Fire Roasted Habanero is in my top 10 favourite habanero hot sauces. It’s also the best fire-roasted habanero sauce I’ve ever had! Though it has a humorous name, it should not be discounted as a novelty sauce given that it packs a big punch in regards to heat and flavour! It’s quite rare to find a sauce of this kind because most sauces use fresh peppers. The roasting of the habaneros is what really sets this sauce apart from your conventional habanero sauces. The pepper itself has a citrus-like, and often slightly smoky taste and through its fire-roasting, the flavours of the pepper are enhanced, creating a unique bold, smoky, and robust taste. The other two main ingredients in this sauce are red wine vinegar and salt, making for a simple mix! Some hot sauces are great because they combine many different flavours, creating complex flavour profiles. This sauce, like many others, keeps it simple in the choice of ingredients. This sauce is a testament to the fact that sometimes all it takes is a few ingredients to attain great heat and flavour! The red wine vinegar adds a tangy, rounded taste to the sauce, which greatly complements the taste of the peppers. Not only is it healthier than white vinegar, it makes for a more pronounced and unique taste!

In terms of heat I give this sauce a 6 out of 10. This sauce is about as hot as your standard habanero pepper sauce. It can be enjoyed by almost anyone who enjoys a smoky flavour and a strong kick. I would recommend this sauce to those who enjoy habanero sauces and want to try something different. If you’re someone who had not had that many habanero sauces before and are looking to kick things up a notch, this is a great choice!

You can use this sauce as a grilling sauce, as part of a smoky marinade for chicken, beef or pork, and a dipping sauce for fries, wings, veggies, and more! The bold, slightly charred flavour of the sauce, along with the red wine vinegar tang, makes it great in stir fries, sandwiches, mayo, soups, ramen, and stews. If you can handle the heat of habanero sauces and enjoy a smoky flavour, I highly recommend that you give Dr. Assburn’s Fire Roasted Habanero a try!

As always, Keep it spicy!
