Backdraft Hot Sauce is one of our tasting table favourites. It’s among our most popular products because of its versatility, mild heat, and the fact that pretty much anyone can enjoy it. It’s a sweet mustard-based sauce that is highly addictive. I have been using this sauce for a while now as a dipping sauce, marinade, and grilling sauce and I can’t get enough of it! If you love the taste of mustard with added sweetness and warm heat from habanero chiles, this is the sauce for you! The yellow mustard, white and light brown sugar, and tomato paste give the sauce the mustardy sweetness that define its flavour profile. The habanero chiles are at the bottom of the ingredients list, making this sauce not very hot at all. In terms of heat I would give this sauce a 1 out of 10. It has a mild, lingering burn from the habaneros. It is more of a sweet and savoury tasting sauce than a hot one. This sauce is perfect for those who love a sweet mustardy taste with only a hint of heat.
There is so much you can do with this sauce. Enjoy it with roast beef, wings, chips, chicken fingers, shrimp, vegetables, tempura, and jalapeno poppers. Add it to coleslaw, egg and potato salads, and sandwiches for a sweet zing! I have also used it to marinade salmon and rainbow trout. Baste any meat or seafood with it while cooking!
This is among my favourite mustard-based sauces on the market today. I have had many friends try it at my tasting parties and time and time again they were consistently surprised that a sauce like this really exists; it’s a sauce that is strong in flavour and sweetness, but very mild in heat.
