CaJohns Bourbon Infused Chipotle Hot Sauce is a chipotle sauce like no other. It’s got more of a kick than most other products of this type because of the added red habaneros. It’s got an even richer, deeper smokiness due to the added natural applewood smoke flavouring and is also quite smooth with an added touch of sweet bourbon to complete the flavour profile. This is another top-quality product made by CaJohns Fiery Food co. that I highly recommend to anyone into BBQ sauces with a kick, bourbon-based, or chipotle sauces. The ingredients in this sauce complement each other in the best way possible. The red habanero, with its tantalizing heat and citrusy flavour, and chipotle chiles, with their smoky fruitiness, bring all the heat to this sauce. The tomato paste and brown sugar give the sauce the perfect level of sweetness in relation to the heat, smokiness, and overall depth of flavour. The apple cider vinegar is used in this sauce as a great substitute for regular vinegar because not only is it better for your health, but it also adds a nice subtle tang that complements the other flavours present. The Jim Beam Black Label Bourbon with its full-bodied flavour, adds subtle yet rich notes of caramel and oak. This flavour combined with the smoky-sweetness that this sauce provides is a match made in heaven! The corn starch gives it that smooth consistency while the natural applewood smoke flavouring helps to elevate the smokiness of the chipotles.
In terms of heat I would give this sauce a 3 out of 10. Even with the added habaneros, this sauce has a nice bold sweetness that cuts the heat a bit. I would still say that this is a notch hotter than other chipotle sauces on the market but would still recommend it to those just getting into hot sauce, those who like a good smoky chipotle flavour, or any hardcore chile head like myself! You will not be disappointed by the flavours and mild-medium kick this product has to offer!
This sauce can be enjoyed in many ways. It adds a sweet kick and a whole lot of flavour wherever you put it. I love incorporating it in Mexican, Caribbean, or Southwestern dishes. It’s perfect on roasted chicken, sautéed shrimp, barbecued fish, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and more. Enjoy it in quesadillas, sandwiches, pulled pork, and baked beans. Put it on pizza, pork chops, hot dogs, tofu, and nachos to name a few. It’s also a great sweet and spicy dip for French fries, chicken tenders, wings, meatballs and more!
