Howler Monkey Hot Hot Sauce

September 24, 2018

Have you been looking for a sauce with a decent amount of heat, balanced flavour profile and exotic tang? You need look no further than Howler Monkey Hot Hot Sauce! Chances are you’ve seen the Howler Monkey Original Hot Sauce on the last season of Hot Ones, the show on First We Feast’s YouTube channel which has exploded in popularity over the past couple of years. The guests always liked the taste of the Original! I decided to try the Howler Monkey Hot because I tend to go for the hotter sauces… which I’m sure comes as no surprise to you. This sauce is made with ingredients common to Caribbean-style sauces, with the taste of the peppers and the tang from the vinegar being the most predominant flavours. Along with the Caribbean vibe that this sauce brings out, it’s also all-natural, gluten free, and free of any thickeners, preservatives, or added sugars! Not only can you taste the freshness of the ingredients, they also use only local produce from their home state of Florida!

Distilled vinegar is the classic main ingredient in this kind of product, adding some pungency and a liquid consistency. Red habanero peppers and red scotch bonnet peppers are what bring the citrusy and subtly sweet fire in this one, complimented by a healthy dose of garlic and onions for that nice zing we all love in Caribbean hot sauces. The mustard is rather subtle, but the flavour is still noticeable. The cumin, black pepper, and turmeric add light earthy, warm, and piquant notes, working perfectly with the mustard. It’s clearly a very pleasant-tasting sauce, with no single ingredient overpowering another. This makes for a balanced flavour profile which is demonstrative through its many possible uses!

In terms of heat I would give this one a 3 out of 10. With the classic habanero and scotch bonnet combination comes a kind of flavourful heat that most would categorize as medium-high on the heat scale. I have enjoyed a myriad of hot sauces thus far, so I’ve built up a rather high tolerance. To me, this sauce is rather mild, and I’m sure that most other hardcore chile heads like myself would agree. For the average consumer of hot sauces and spicy food out there looking to get into Caribbean-style and other similar-style hot sauces, this would be a great addition to have in your fridge! It could also serve as the perfect introductory sauce to those who have never enjoyed the heat of a habanero or scotch bonnet pepper.

Use Howler Monkey to enhance all kinds of meals! It’s perfect on eggs whether in an omelet, scrambled, hard-boiled, over-easy, or in a sandwich. With its noticeable heat and fresh tang, it can liven up your fried rice, grilled chicken or tenderloin, wings, sandwiches, Bloody Marys or Caesars, stews, curries, jerk chicken kebabs, shrimp, prawns, scallops, burritos, tempeh or seitan dishes, and so much more! It’s got that classic taste that I’m sure many of you (if not all) would appreciate!

Come by one of our store locations and give Howler Monkey Hot Hot Sauce a try!

As always, Keep it spicy!

Alexis

Secret Aardvark Drunken Jerk Marinade

May 13, 2019

The Drunken Jerk Marinade is savoury, intense, spiced, and salty. This intensity is mainly due to the fact that its main use is that of a marinade, and thus has a high concentration of flavour. Therefore, it’s not necessarily the kind of sauce you would douse on any dish.

Tabanero Hot Sauce

April 30, 2019

Part of the reason for this is because of its amazingly versatile, fresh flavour. It’s also a big hit, I believe, because it is rather mild for a habanero-based sauce. This makes it an enjoyable product for pretty much anyone who at least enjoys lower heat-level hot sauces!

Slightly warm

No doubt about it this stuff is hot which is surprising, considering I eat the last dab redux on a daily basis. Same with hellfire fear this, I feel that da bomb final answer is way hotter than both of those. But it tastes disgusting.

Los Calientes

It's the most pleasureful pain I've ever experienced. And I'll do it over and over.

Nice Salsa

Don't buy any, save it all for me!

Still the best

I was there at the old Red Fox liars table when you first introduced this stuff , I am 74 now and still think it is the best in North America, had a feed tonight for supper with my Keith's and wings thanks for the best sauce around and thanks for all the great memories at the Fox

Taste is good, but no heat

Great flavor but I'd rate the heat more like a 2/10
