Historic Lynchburg Spiced Curry Ketchup

March 28, 2018

Lynchburg Spiced Curry KetchupHistoric Lynchburg make a huge variety of products including unique barbecue sauces, hot sauces, mustards, spice rubs, ketchups, wing sauces, and a steak sauce! Part of what makes them stand out is that all of their products contain Jack Daniel’s Whiskey. I’ve got to hand it to them for incorporating its subtle smoky and woodsy taste in so many ways! I’ve only tried a handful of their products, but the ones I’ve tried were fantastic. They really know how to make savoury, delicious products that are all quite versatile. We carry many of them at Chilly Chiles in-store and online. I highly recommend you check out anything by Historic Lynchburg if you want to open your mind to new culinary possibilities!

This ketchup uses ingredient combinations which produce a succulent, tangy, and piquant flavour profile. The red ripe tomato concentrate makes for the sweetness and tartness in the sauce while the white and apple cider vinegar provide the tang. Boyle’s Curry Spice provides the distinctive savoury and earthy taste. The Worcestershire sauce, mustard seed, and ginger greatly complement the curry with an added depth and boldness. The onion adds to the overall sweetness of the sauce, while a hint of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey tops it off!

You can use this sauce the same way you would use a regular ketchup such as on sausages, eggs, all kind of potatoes, and much more. I find that we often don’t realize that ketchup can be used as so much more than simply a dip for French fries or a topping on a burger. Even simply mixing it with mayonnaise makes for a delicious dip. Here are some other ways this ketchup can be used to enhance different mixes and dishes. Use it in a thousand-island dressing recipe or add a tablespoon or two of it in curries, such as Tikka Masala, for an added boldness and sweetness. Try adding it to minced beef dishes such as chili con carne or spaghetti Bolognese for a touch of curry taste. You would be surprised how well it works in the mix. Use it in a cocktail sauce recipe and enjoy with shrimp, crab, clams, and oysters. You can also enjoy it in sloppy joes for that extra jolt of Indian flavour. I have even used this ketchup as a meatloaf glaze. Use a spatula to add it on top of the meatloaf before baking, and it will then thicken into a delicious glaze!

If you like ketchup and curry, this is a must-have. Come by one of our store locations and give Historic Lynchburg Spiced Curry Ketchup a try!

As always, Keep it spicy!

Kultivar Batch #11 - Moruga Scorpion & Citrus Hot Sauce

November 26, 2018

I’ve never enjoyed a citrus-based hot sauce quite like Kultivar Batch #11 - Moruga Scorpion & Citrus Hot Sauce. This is the third sauce in the five-product lineup by Ontarian hot sauce makers Kultivar & Co. To be honest it’s rather addictive given that it...

Char Man Brand Verde Hot Sauce

November 20, 2018

Char Man Brand, from Ojai, California, have made this incredible verde hot sauce. It won 2nd place at the 2017 Scovie Awards! I’m honestly not surprised. It’s a unique take on the classic verde: fresh, smoky, and savoury with a slow, mild simmering heat.

This stuff really is a secret weapon

This is my new go-to mustard for sandwiches. The pickle flavour is not too overpowering. Just enough that you get the taste of it as if you had pickles on your sandwich.

Truff Hot Sauce

Culley's Fajita Seasoning Mix

I've always been impressed by their product the quality and even more so the taste! A lot of hot sauces or just hot with horrible taste but not these. Not only are they hot but they have great flavor... Will continue to buy my sauces from chilly Chiles ...

real tasty, smoky but not spicy enough ! but worth it for a good sauce !!
