Sinai Gourmet Habanero Hot Sauces

June 16, 2017

a close up of a bottleSinai Gourmet is a Montreal-based hot sauce company that I have been working with in production and sales for the past year. The founder, Laurence Isaac, has created the freshest possible hot sauces using only premium natural ingredients. In fact, the sauces are so fresh that they are actually a line of hot pepper coulis rather than sauces! A coulis is simply a puree of fresh natural ingredients like fruits, vegetables, herbs, and so on to create a base or a garnish to enhance the flavour of a dish.

Sinai Gourmet’s sauces are all vinegar free, using freshly squeezed lime juice as a natural preservative instead. Virtually all hot sauces use vinegar as a preservative, which has the drawback of requiring a lot of sugar and salt to mask the strong vinegar taste, which then overpowers the natural taste of your food when you use them. But the great thing about using lime juice is that it’s so fresh tasting, you don’t need to mask it with sugar and salt. This not only makes for a healthier sauce, but it’s also a much better marinade than vinegar-based sauces, since the vinegar tends to cut the flavour of the meat or fish that you’re marinating. Lime juice, however, marries superbly well with anything you decide to marinate it with, enabling Sinai Gourmet sauces to truly blend in and enhance rather than overtaking and changing the natural taste of your food. The fresh cilantro in the sauce also adds a slight savoury herb taste that complements the taste of the fresh peppers.

Sinai Gourmet sauces are handcrafted in small batches and are low sodium, gluten-free, non-GMO, nut-free, vegan, and free of any artificial ingredients. The product offering is an impressive range of delicious, all natural gourmet hot sauces, with a heat range from mild, to wild: Poblano, Jalapeno, Jwala, Cayenne, Habanero, Datil, Ghost, and the Carolina Reaper. All varieties, with the exception of the Carolina Reaper, are available in Original or Maple. The hint of sweetness from the pure Quebec maple syrup complements the heat of the sauce.

At Chilly Chiles, there are a range of sample bottles for customers to try, so why not drop by one of our store locations for a taste of Sinai Gourmet’s delicious fresh heat! In the meantime, check out a couple of recipes here or here to whet your appetite that will hopefully inspire you to come and see us and pick up one of these sauces soon!

Until next time, Keep it spicy!

Alexis

When you think of a bee sting, you probably think of excruciating pain and the need for medical attention. Well get that thought out of your mind for this sauce as it will definitely not sting you much at all! It will, however, provide you with some fresh tropical flavours.

CaJohns Hydra Hot Sauce

February 11, 2020

CaJohns Hydra Hot Sauce is definitely a force to be reckoned with! Made with 7-Pot Primo chilies, it’s got a fresh heat that you’d expect to get from this brand. Hydra is in fact a very pepper-forward sauce, meaning that much of the flavour comes from the main pepper itself.

Heartbreaking Dawns Cauterizer

The toe was damn hot!!!

The toe of satan is friggin so hot. It's one thing to eat something hot and swallow it. The toe is 9 million scolville but you are sucking on it. Need I say more!!! Picture was for fun but that was about 20 mins after!!

Perfect if you like strong vinegar-y sauces.

So my partner loves this sauce, but she loves kimchi and all things vinegar/acid-y. So I'm giving this 4 stars based on her opinion.

The normal Hellfire Detroit is one of my favorite sauces of all time for reference; however Bourbon Habanero Ghost is too tart/acidy for my taste, its also considerably hotter (which is welcome for some but a difference to note), I'd say 40% hotter than normal hellfire.
