Da Bomb Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce

January 27, 2020

Spicin’ Foods (Original Juan) specialize in high-quality, gourmet hot sauces, salsas, wing sauces, BBQ Sauces and more. They’re one of the best companies out there, HANDS-DOWN! Everyone talks to me about Da Bomb as if Beyond Insanity or Ground Zero is all there is. Let’s not even get into The Final Answer, as we kind of want to stay alive on this blog. This one is a smaller bottle, the same as all other Da Bomb sauces. At the same time though, it’s a very concentrated product, so it packs a lot of flavour and good heat in every drop. Da Bomb Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce is the best-tasting Da Bomb sauce in my opinion, given that it’s free of any pepper extract and tastes super fresh!

Check out my many other reviews of Spicin’ Foods products including Da Bomb Ghost Pepper Salsa and Ghost Pepper Nuts, two of my most favourite products ever! I’ve also reviewed several sauces from the Pain is Good lineup including Pain is Good Gochujang Hot Sauce, Moruga Masala Hot Sauce, Harissa Hot Sauce, and Habanero Sambal Hot Sauce! Give my other reviews a read if you want to learn more about the company and the other brands and products we offer of theirs here at Chilly Chiles!

The flavour profile of this one is citrusy, bold, savoury, and a tad fruity. It’s made with only a few simple ingredients, which is generally a good sign about hot sauces. Fresh habanero peppers are the main source of flaming heat in this product. Jolokia (Ghost) chili powder and habanero powder are what also give it an extra jolt of lightly fruity and citrusy heat. Although it’s called a Ghost Pepper hot sauce, there’s a higher concentration of Habaneros in it. I don’t find this to be that much of a problem for me. The main thing is that you probably won’t get the level of Ghost heat you may expect, given Da Bomb’s general reputation to straight-up burn everyone who tries it! I’ll get more into the heat level in the next paragraph. Mango puree adds just a bit of sweetness and tropical taste, while the water balances out the sauce’s consistency and acidity. Lime juice concentrate brings forth some citrusy tang to complement the taste of the peppers, with the tomato paste adding a bit of thickness and sweetness to it.

In terms of heat, I’d give this one a 7 out of 10. It would have probably been an 8 if there were more ghost peppers in the bottle, as they are more of a secondary ingredient to the habaneros. If you like the taste of habaneros and can handle their heat but are not sure about Ghost peppers, this could be a great sauce for you! Fans of Ghost pepper sauces, I think, would appreciate this one too, but shouldn’t be expecting a TON of heat like other similar sauces. This still isn’t a product I would recommend for beginners though!

Add some Da Bomb in modest amounts to your pasta, red meats, grilled seafood, pizza, stir fries, ramen, soups, wings, tacos, nachos, steaks, eggs, burritos, salsa, chili, Cajun dishes, and more. It works well as a table sauce or as a fiery addition to your marinades too! I’ve also really enjoyed it in my hummus as a dip for veggies or crackers.

Come by one of our store locations and give Da Bomb Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce a try!

As always, Keep it spicy!

Bee Sting Mango Passion Hot Sauce

February 19, 2020

When you think of a bee sting, you probably think of excruciating pain and the need for medical attention. Well get that thought out of your mind for this sauce as it will definitely not sting you much at all! It will, however, provide you with some fresh tropical flavours.

CaJohns Hydra Hot Sauce

February 11, 2020

CaJohns Hydra Hot Sauce is definitely a force to be reckoned with! Made with 7-Pot Primo chilies, it’s got a fresh heat that you’d expect to get from this brand. Hydra is in fact a very pepper-forward sauce, meaning that much of the flavour comes from the main pepper itself.

Heartbreaking Dawns Cauterizer

The flavour profile of Cauterizer is fruity, tangy, sweet, and savoury. Trinidad Scorpion peppers bring a solid, blazing heat and fruity flavour, with the cider vinegar preserving the sauce while adding some sour notes. Apricot preserves, blueberries, and honey...

Dawson Original Hot Sauce

Smells good. Tastes good. Hot as hell. But manageable.

The toe was damn hot!!!

The toe of satan is friggin so hot. It's one thing to eat something hot and swallow it. The toe is 9 million scolville but you are sucking on it. Need I say more!!! Picture was for fun but that was about 20 mins after!!

Perfect if you like strong vinegar-y sauces.

So my partner loves this sauce, but she loves kimchi and all things vinegar/acid-y. So I'm giving this 4 stars based on her opinion.

The normal Hellfire Detroit is one of my favorite sauces of all time for reference; however Bourbon Habanero Ghost is too tart/acidy for my taste, its also considerably hotter (which is welcome for some but a difference to note), I'd say 40% hotter than normal hellfire.

Good flavour with lingering heat

This is a pretty darn hot sauce, but the underlying flavour is still noticeable. This is a good one to have in your collection for those liking a strong kick now and then.

So good!

Bought this set as a gift for my brother who collects hot sauce and he liked it a lot. The Chicago one works well with guacamole! While the Adobo loco packs a punch. 10/10 would purchase and try other stuff again! Also the packaging is great and it arrived in perfect condition.
