Bravado Serrano Basil Hot Sauce

June 30, 2018

Bravado Serrano Basil Hot Sauce   Serrano Basil Hot Sauce by Bravado Spice Co. is one of the most unique sauces I’ve enjoyed in recent years. It has a sweet, herbal quality reminiscent of Italian cuisine with a mild bite. It’s made with simple, fresh, and natural ingredients, as with all products by Bravado Spice. This company makes some of the tastiest hot sauces on the market today. We offer the majority of them here at Chilly Chiles! I suggest you check out my review of their Crimson Hot Sauce if want to learn more about the company and the other products that they offer.

There are very few ingredients in this sauce, which is of course always a great sign! Each one complements the next by completing the overall flavour profile. All the elements that I would hope to see in an Italian-style hot sauce are present. The white wine vinegar adds a subtly rich, fruity, and tangy quality to the sauce. You can really tell the difference when a sauce uses a good quality vinegar versus regular distilled vinegar. Quality ingredients always go a long way! The Serrano pepper, which is slightly hotter than the infamous Jalapeno pepper, brings a slight heat to this sauce with its crisp, bright flavour. The tomato paste brings that classic taste that we know and love, with some sweetness too. The basil is the main herb that drives the fragrancy of this sauce. It is more of a subtle aftertaste but goes perfectly with everything else! The garlic provides a subtle zing, completing the classic Italian flavour profile. Finally, the brown sugar adds just the right amount of sweetness.

In terms of heat I would give this sauce a 1 out of 10. It has a mild kick that would be detected by those just getting into hot sauce and spicy food in general. Serious chile heads like myself will not find much heat at all but will discover a unique combination of flavours that will make one rethink how the taste of tomatoes and basil can be so enjoyable in a hot sauce! I highly recommend this gourmet product if you have ever enjoyed pizza or pasta (which is pretty much everyone I’m assuming)!

Enjoy this sauce with trout, salmon, shrimp, pizza, tacos, sandwiches, pasta, salads, lasagna, and pretty much any tomato-based dish because the flavour profile compliments either fresh, roasted, or crushed tomatoes! I’ve also mixed this sauce in cream cheese, sour cream, or mayo for a fresh zesty dip you can enjoy with veggies, fries, mozzarella sticks, wings, and more!

Come by one of our store locations and give Bravado Serrano Basil a try!

As always, keep it spicy!

West African VooDoo Juice Hot Sauce

This is, I believe, one of the very few great-tasting pepper extract-based hot sauces on the market today. The flavour profile is one which I have not been able to find in any other sauce I’ve ever tried.

Great Sauce

Nice heat that builds the more you eat! Great flavor profile and not just vinegar and chillies. Will def buy again

What a salty sauce.

Great kick but the salt comes fasty and cover everything.
Worst sauce from Iguana i tried.

Great garlic sauce

This is a great garlic hot sauce. The heat is low but the garlic and basil pack a lot of flavour. Texture is medium in nature, which always the sauce to remain in place rather then to run down whatever it's applied to.
